Martin Freeman is again extraordinary as night policeman embattled on all sides. Sidekick Adelayo Adedayo (say that name and it sounds like the beginning of a song) is suffering the after effects of her abusive boyfriend and not coping well. MyAnna Buring is the ex who is moving her and their daughter Romi Hyland-Rylands to London; she's now with hostile cop Warren Brown. Bernard Hill is the formerly abusive father - he died May 5th.
Everywhere he turns he seems to run in to more problems. It's like a bomb waiting to go off. Black comedy welcome e.g. the two nuts sisters, Sue Johnstone and Sue Jenkins, both from Brookside.
With Josh Finan (now with baby), Emily Fairn (budding young drug dealer), Philip McGuinness, Faye McKeever, Mark Womack, Amaka Okafor, Adam Nagaitis (drug dealer), Ian Puleston-Davies, Matthew Cottle (priest/counsellor, from Game On) and Kevin Eldon as a man with no memory. Finan and Fairn are both particularly good but all the acting is excellent.
