Forever Green (1989 Terence Brady & Charlotte Bingham)

Another most interesting Pauline Collins / John Alderton collaboration. Daisy Bates and Nimer Rashed are their children. Family with asthmatic daughter uproot to country life

Paola Dionisotti (Lady of Manor), Wendy Van Der Plank (Hilly), Philip McGough (brother-in-law), Togo Igawa.

Patrick Gowers wrote the most interesting music, which evokes the Powell & Pressburger films (thus Gone To Earth?), or Richard Robbins - I don't know, but it gives it a great feeling. Evocatively photographed by Dick Pope.

Really weirdly there are no writer credits for the six episodes of series one, but apparently husband-and-wife team Terence Brady and Charlotte Bingham were the authors, who'd also worked on Upstairs Downstairs and Thomas and Sarah. According to Wikipedia they fell out with London Weekend so seriously that they withdrew from the show and requested their names be removed (but cannot substantiate that, though it does make sense).

Intriguingly, editor Brian Smedley-Aston is one of the second unit, perhaps ensuring they had the right shots they'd need in the edit.
