Nuts in May (1976 Mike Leigh & scr)

We were going to watch The Naked Gun when Q discovered that Caroline Aherne had died. That then didn't seem appropriate so we went for something more observational and gentle. Roger Sloman is frequently hilarious as the world's most boring man (except when he freaks out over bonfire), Alison Steadman great as passive aggressive wife who likes goading him. You feel for Anthony O'Donnell, Stephen Bill and Sheila Kelley who have to share the campsite. Features some stunning English countryside though BBC films of this era inevitably look cheap (shot on 16mm I guess?)

Sloman explaining how meat is digested
Absolutely brilliant and funny, very well directed,

There are actually probably more people like Candice-Marie and Keith now than there was back then.

Funny fifties title.
