Scoop (2006 Woody Allen & scr)

Q and I don't often disagree about films but in this one I think Woody Allen should not have cast himself - 'and I mean that with all due respect' - he's just so dithery that it even starts affecting Scarlett, who's dressed in amusingly unflattering wardrobe. Many funny one-liners do emerge from him though in inspired tale of journalist who just won't take being dead lying down, sharing his scoop with a high school reporter and a terrible magician.

The foreigner provides beautiful scenes of London (mainly old buildings in shot, you'll notice, significantly the Royal Albert Hall), filmed by Remi Adefarasin.

With Hugh Jackman, Fenella Woolgar, Ian McShane, Romola Garai, Charles Dance. Interesting score is all classical - Tchaikovsky, Greig and Strauss.
