American historical fiction author Julia Potter published the nine 'Bridgerton' novels between 2000 and 2013. The series was commissioned by Netflix under producer Shonda Rhimes (formerly a Grey's Anatomy showrunner), and created by Chris Van Dusen, a curiously American line up then for such a quintessentially English story - Netflix trying to find a Downton. It's not unenjoyable - comes over a bit like a period soap opera, both predictable and incredible, with bonking. Whether or not Queen Charlotte was mixed race, the idea that so many of the aristocracy were also black is somewhat fanciful, but gives it a nice point of difference (this is Van Dusen's embellishment to the novels). And going into Lockdown3 in dismal January, it's absolutely what we all want.
Hardly recognised anyone in the cast. Regé-Jean Page, Phoebe Dynevor, Jonathan Bailey, Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls), Ruth Gemmell, Polly Walker, Claudia Jessie, Luke Newton, Ruby Barker, Sabrina Bartlett, Adjoa Andoh, Freddie Stroma (German prince), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen), Will Tilston (Goodbye Christopher Robin).

Q noticed a bee that appeared here and there and is the final shot of the series, though the significance eludes me.
