Notting Hill (1999 Roger Michell)

Possibly Richard Curtis' most successful film (Four Weddings has an unlikeable heroine, Love Actually is bitty), perfectly worked out. Julia Roberts won the Oscar in real life in 2001.

The house is 280 Westborne Park Road, former home of Richard Curtis. The interiors were filmed on a sound stage, designed by Stuart Craig.

That 150 foot crane shot in the gardens is quite stunning (Michael Coulter the DP, Mike Roberts the operator.) Nick Moore edited it.

Funnily enough, it was on TV later that evening, so we had it on in the background and effectively watched it twice on the same day.

Special mention to Roger Frost as 'annoying customer'. And a fitting tribute to Emma Chambers, February 21 2018.
