Nice faded old Technicolor film, set in Scotland (Sonora Pass, California) about the village doctor, Edmund Gwenn, who is tricked into taking a water-phobic dog as a companion. He has his eye on a young man (Tom Drake) to take over from him - has to contend with stubborn father Rhys Williams to convince him. The love interest there is a young Janet Leigh (about 21). With Donald Crisp, Reginald Owen, Edmund Breon, Alan Napier, Eileen Erskine and of course Pal, who is as usual incredible when teetering along a thin bridge-edge or battling the freezing water (in the studio, we hope).
Written by William Ludwig and Ian Maclaren. Photographed by Charles Edgar Schoenbaum and scored by Herbert Stothart; edited by Ralph Winters.
