I had been telling Q about these interesting Iranian filmmakers and she got interested and finally succumbed - fortunately, she loved it.
I wondered if - no one listens to the kid, no one - as well as being about invisible children I wondered whether there was a wider resonance that authoritarian Iran is deaf?
It's so primitive there - like a medieval village.
Loved the flower:
Without meaning to be, a symbol of friendship.
I didn't realise - Kiarostami died in 2016 (aged 76). He's also known for Close-Up (1990), (no. 17 in the BFI's Top 250 list; Where Is the Friend's House is 157), The Wind Will Carry Us (1999), and the Palme D'Or winning Taste of Cherry (1997, no. 243). Certified Copy (2010) was filmed in Italy, with Juliette Binoche, and Like Someone in Love (2012) was made in Japan.
