Saboteur (1942 Alfred Hitchcock)

All sorts of people pop up in small roles including Ian Wolfe, Al Bridge (Preston Sturges films), Charles Halton and someone familiar outside a lift.

Highlights include opening aircraft fire, shooting in cinema and marvellously suspenseful, music free climax atop The Statue of Liberty (something of a trial run for NBNW). But the film gets bogged down with conversations about freedom vs. fascism, and the insistence on showing all the bad guy network as being normal people with kids, artistic leanings etc.

Norman Lloyd fabulous as saboteur. With Robert Cummings, Priscilla Lane, Otto Kruger, Alan Baxter.

Music by Frank Skinner, photography from Joe Valentine, edited by Otto Ludwig.
