Heartlands (2002 Damian O'Donnell)

Written by Paul Fraser, who wrote Twenty Four Seven (with Bob Hoskins) A Room For Romeo Brass, Once Upon a Time in the Midlands and Somers Town. A delightful, warm and entertaining British road movie, as simple-minded Michael Sheen travels by scooter to Blackpool to reclaim wife Jane Robbins, who's gone off with copper Jim Carter. En route he meets Mark Addy, Ruth Jones, Philippa Peake, Mark Strong and Celia Imrie.

Lots of little gems like the toothbrush trick in front of the fire, the kids looking after the newsagents, the camping girls, Eric Bristow.

Music and songs by Kate Rusby and John McCusker. Shot by Alwin Kuchler (Hanna, Morvern Callar, Ratcatcher. Steve Jobs).
