Once Upon a Time in the Midlands (2002 Shane Meadows)

Written by Paul Fraser (Heartlands) and Meadows. Robert Carlyle comes back into the life of Shirley Henderson and her daughter Finn Atkins (Eden Lake) - these two display amazing chemistry, as do Kathy Burke and Ricky Tomlinson. Rhys Ifans is the (somewhat nervous) man in her life now. With Andrew Shim, James Cosmo and Vic and Bob as clowns. Kathy Burke's character / acting is hilarious.

It's funny and sweet, not at all as I remembered it. Love the bit where everyone ends up on Shirl's bed and make shopping requests (a frozen kebab, a Red Bull, 'something for the boys', a Twix and a pot noodle). And the garage hands.

Funny film made funnier by Western style music (John Lunn) and framing - Meadows' western.
