Tube Tales (1999)

Made for Sky, I'd thought multi-episode film - which had me thinking of Paris Je T'Aime - was lost.

It isn't.

'Mr Cool' by Amy Jenkins (& scr) has Dexter Fletcher, Kelly MacDonald and Jason Flemyng.

'Horny' Stephen Hopkins, with Denise van Outen and the sadly underrated Tom Bell, with Liz Smith.

'Grasshopper' Menhaj Huda, scr. Harsha Patel. Amazingly coincidentally with Ray Panthaki again, Roger Griffiths, Jake Wood.

'My Father the Liar' written by that Paul Fraser again, directed by Bob Hoskins. Ray Winstone takes his son Tom Watson on a journey and they witness William Hoyland kill himself. Good episode.

'Bone' is about the attempt of a composer (Nicolas Tennant) to create new work, inspired by missing girl. Silent. the music perhaps lets it down a bit, but very interesting. Ewan McGregor directed Mark Greig's script.

'Mouth'. Armando Ianucci. The only bit I remembered. Daniela Nardini (again) isn't feeling very well. Edna Doré appears fleetingly. Helen Coker (All or Nothing).

'A Bird in the Hand'. Directed by Jude Law, scr. Ed Allen. Alan Miller (his only appearance). The dirty fingernails...

'Rosebud' another fabulous episode with (again amazingly coincidentally) Leonie Elliott as a girl who is separated from her mum, Rachel Weisz, looked after by fairy godmother Dona Croll. Gaby Dellal wrote it. Good music.

And 'Steal Away', great idea by Nick Perry, directed by Charles McDougall. Sean Pertwee, Jim Carter, Carmen Ejogo, Hans Matheson (good), Simon Pegg, Lee Ross, Don Warrington. Reminded me of that TV one-off Promoted to Glory (2003 Ken Stott).

At times quite hypnotic.
