Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan dig up women willing to go on record about their experiences with Harvey Weinstein in true story based on NYT investigation / book, screenwritten by Rebecca Lenkiewicz. It's not exactly news to us, and is another in a line of journalistic investigation films beginning with All the President's Men and more recently manifested in The Post. The trouble with issue-led drama is that it can be overbalanced towards the issue rather than a drama - a dramatised documentary can result. And I think that's slightly the case here. Q started adding flashes of humour, and I think that would have helped.
With Patricia Clarkson, Ashley Judd, Samantha Morton, Jennifer Ehle, Andre Braugher, Zach Grenier.
Music by Nicholas Britell, DP Natasha Braier (Gloria Bell), editor Hansjörg Weißbrich.
