Jimmie Fails is the lead actor / co-writer. He plays a man who returns to his family home in the Golden Gate section of San Francisco and moves in, despite having no legal right to do so. He believes his grandfather built the house in the 1940s. His friend Jonathan Majors moves in with him and writes a play about a friend of theirs who's been killed.
Offers some quirky looks at San Francisco people, and is clear how it feels about black people being priced out, and the changing nature of the city, but is difficult to grasp or like much, and is overall a melancholy experience.
Quite distinctive photography (Adam Newport-Berra in 1.66:1), music (Emile Mosseri), and production design (Jona Tochet).
