Cisco Pike (1971 Bill Norton & scr)

I wasn't sure what to make of this, which is in itself unusual. Struggling singer with pending drug bust is bribed by a corrupt cop to deal $10,000 worth of weed over a weekend (and keep the change). Cop has offered to get rid of the charge, but the singer has only his word for that. It's an unlikely premise, in other words, and doesn't really go anywhere.. well, it does go somewhere, in late plotting of heroin-addicted friend Harry Dean Stanton turning up. Seems to catch the place and time well though. Loved Kristofferson's line, can't quite track it down now, that the real moment of the magical sixties was actually just "1966 and some of 1967".

Kris Kristofferson's debut. With Gene Hackman, Harry Dean Stanton, Karen Black, Roscoe Lee Brown, Antonio Fargas, Viva, Joy Bang, Severn Darden, Allan Arbus (probably recognise him from TV's MASH).

Didn't know anyone behind the camera. Editor Bob Jones then worked for Hal Ashby on The Last Detail.
