Thriller written by Ernest Lehman (based on Irving Wallace novel) about intrigue at Nobel Prize awards in Stockholm certainly evokes North By Northwest in places, e.g. scene where dead man was now innocent woman's dwelling. Paul Newman is the writer who starts to become suspicious of Edward G Robinson and his niece Diane Baker (Marnie, Mirage, then mainly TV). Elke Sommer has been assigned to look after him. Leo G Carroll is fretting about the proceedings.
With Micheline Presle, Gerard Oury, Sergio Fantoni, Kevin McCarthy (Hotel, Invasion of the Body Snatchers), Sacha Pitoeff, John Qualen (didn't recognise him).
Long but most enjoyable.
Music by Jerry Goldsmith, photographed by William Daniels. MGM.
