Holy Matrimony (1943 John M. Stahl)

A slightly clunky story, from an Arnold Bennett novel, about an artist who - for unclear reasons - adopts the identity of his dead valet, leading to various complications which end in a sluggish courtroom scene. Of main interest for the twinning of Monty Woolley and British music hall star Gracie Fields.

With Eric Blore, Laird Cregar, Una O'Connor, Alan Mowbray, Melville Cooper, Franklin Pangborn and George Zucco.

Shot by Lucien Ballard, 20th Century Fox. Nunnally Johnson adapted and produced it.
