Shadow of the Thin Man (1941 W.S. Van Dyke)

Most entertaining fourth installment, written by Irving Brecher, and Harry Kurnitz, who contributed to an interesting batch of screenplays: Witness for the Prosecution, How to Steal a Million, Hatari (story), One Touch of Venus, I Love You Again.

"That's Mr Charles, isn't it?"
"Yes'm."
"This is a cocktail, isn't it?"
"Yes'm."
"They'll get together."

Nick forced to drink milk, "I keep seeing purple cows."
Love that it's Nora who goes for the guy with the gun in the denouement.

Featuring in its cast the legendary acting teaching Stella Adler, who studied from Stanislavski and taught Method Acting to Brando, Beatty, de Niro, Malden, Keitel, Midler, Ritter, Sheen and Peter Bogdanovich ('my second mother').

With Sam Levene, Barry Nelson, Donna Reed, Alan Baxter, Henry O'Neill, Louise Beavers. And 'Asta'.

Photographed by William Daniels.
