Lost in Translation (2003 Sofia Coppola & scr)

I hadn't realised before (it was obviously the Day of Realisation) that in fact we are witnessing the whole of Scarlett and Bill's relationship - the meet cute, the flirting, getting to know each other, sex - I know, here's the sex scene -

-the falling out, then making up, the awkward goodbye...

Sofia's best film. She won the screenplay Oscar.

Murray and Johansson are note perfect, both winning BAFTAs (and Oscar nominations). Catherine Lambert is the singer, Giovanni Ribisi the husband, Anna Faris the annoying actress.

Lance Acord shot it, sometimes with no respect for focus, Sarah Flack edited (also winning BAFTA), Richard Beggs is responsible for the sound design.

The title is of course a beautiful play on words.
