The Last Right (2019 Aoife Crehan & scr)

EE-fuh to you. He'd previously only made two shorts, one of which, Two Peas, was edited by Vic's assistant Rob Redford. He (Aoife) was also a post-production coordinator on Chalet Girls!

Same year as Calm with Horses, yet I still failed to recognise the brilliant Niamh Algar - what an ee-jit.

Low key, warm and quirky film has estranged son Michiel Huisman (The Flight Attendant, Treme) return from NYC to Cork for mother's funeral, yet ends up transferring the body of a dead (obviously) fellow passenger to the furthest reaches of Northern Ireland with autistic brother Samuel Bottomley and aforementioned Algar.

Got that the title is play on 'Last Rite' but didn't understand what the last 'right' was. (I told you I was a ee-jit.)

With Michael McElhatton, Jim Norton, Brian Cox, Eleanor O'Brien, Colm Meaney.

Music by Gary Lightbody, DP Shane F. Kelly (not to be confused with Shane Y. Kelly), editors Matthew Cannings and David Freeman.
