Bank of Dave (2003 Chris Foggin)

The sort of wildly unbelievable, little man vs. establishment story that Brits are and do so well. Incredibly pissed off with the banking system, which virtually collapsed then had to be bailed out by taxpayers, Dave (Rory Kinnear, like we haven't seen enough of him lately) enlists the help of London solicitors to start his one man bank of Burnley. Initially sceptical, lawyer Joel Fry gets swept up with the man's friendliness and passion. And falls for his niece Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton), who's a GP.

With Hugh Bonneville, Jo Hartley, Paul Kaye, Angus Wright, Cathy Tyson.

I wasn't sure about Fry. I thought someone with more charisma may have helped, like Clive Owen (which led us on to the next film). It's - let's say - an understated performance.

Has a rock / karaoke theme, with Def Leppard appearing at concert in film's cameo.

It was quite fun, and inoffensive, and we needed a film that was nothing like Men.
