Written by Marion Nelson, from Robyn Davidson's memoir. It may seem at face value like Wild, but it isn't really. Robyn wanted solitude, didn't welcome human company, doesn't have much of a back story to come out. The trek is the thing. As such, camera and composer are important: Mandy Walker (in a very wide 2.6:1 ratio) and Garth Stevenson. Sequence with constantly chattering Aborigine guide gives nice moments of relief.
Mia Wasikowska, Adam Driver.
There are two interesting details right at the start. The dog stays put when she tells it to stay - comes into play later. And - passing truck, redneck Australian points rifle at girl. Not only are many of the men we meet assholes, but it lends validity to her wishing to be alone.
