Bobby Deerfield (1977 Sydney Pollack)

From Mr. Love and Death, Erich Maria Remarque - screenwritten by Alvin Sargent. Fatalistic F1 driver Al Pacino meets tricky German / Italian Marthe Keller, romances her over Europe (including nice Florence locations) unaware of her medical condition. (Bellagio on Lake Como is also in there.)

Nicely edited by Fredric Steinkamp, who worked on many of Pollack's films and Fedora, and photographed by Henri Decae (loved the moments on the train with the light coming and going).

Of interest in cast is Romolo Valli (Giu La Testa). With Anny Duperey, Walter McGinn. Music by Dave Grusin.

'Red Sails in the Sunset' sung here by Nat King Cole, was written by Hugh Williams and published in 1935.
