Nigel Patrick, Elizabeth Sellars, Terence Morgan (brother), Greta Gynt, Theodore Bikel (good as smuggler), Jack Warner, Joyce Grenfell.
Interesting independent film about customs men and a drug smuggling plot, written by Sydney Box. With its villainous women, back-projected South of France and diving scenes it's almost a James Bond trial run, though in the latter the tension is somewhat undermined by Lambert Williamson's woeful music. Didn't know C.M. Pennington-Richards especially but editor Anne Coates is of course well known to us.
Liked the Grenfell bird-watching moments, scene where Bikel tells his family history with guitar accompaniment, and the River Thames / Victoria station / pursuit ending.
We were somewhat distracted by Patrick's ring, thinking he was married, but in fact he's wearing it on his little finger.
