The Body Snatcher (1945 Robert Wise)

This adaptation of a Robert Louis Stevenson story didn't grab me quite as much as the other Val Lewtons, with its story of cadavers being supplied for anatomical research by doctor Henry Daniell (good) and students, including Russell Wade. Boris Karloff is cheerily sinister. With Edith Atwater, Bela Lugosi, Rita Corday, Sharyn Moffet and Donna Lee. Robert de Grasse shot it, Roy Webb scored. The screenplay's by Lewton and Philip MacDonald.

The Scottish atmosphere is perhaps piled on a bit thick, but the production design is as creative as usual.

Started to watch Bedlam, which looked a deal more interesting, but the disc fucked up ten minutes in.
