Disquieting and true story of psychotic surgeon who butchers patients, and the medical colleagues who try and stop him. With Joshua Jackson in title role, the clashing but enjoyable pairing of Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater, and Kelsey Grammar as a complicit surgeon. With AnnaSophia Robb, who finally comes on in episode 5 as an eager assistant DA, Grace Gummer, Hubert Point-Du Jour. The botched surgery scenes / descriptions are terrifying.
What's wrong with him? It seems he has some anomaly where he lacks spatial awareness - thus football scene where he just repeatedly gets it wrong. But this intriguing aspect isn't followed up, annoyingly.
The time structure is confusing and annoying - when you have to keep putting up titles in the same episode ('2012, 2011, 2013') you know something's gone wrong. Ending is title after title - voiceover may have been better. It felt too long.
I don't know if it's just the Channel 4 transmission but the whole thing looks grainy and indistinct. Made by Universal.
