The Pillowman (2003 Martin McDonagh)

A powerful and unsettlingly funny experience, a play about so many things, and so well layered, it's quite difficult to start interpretation.

Our cast: Lily Allen (the writer was male in the original production), Steve Pemberton, Paul Kaye, Matthew Tennyson.

Directed by Matthew Dunster.

What's it about? Censorship. The power of words. A writer's legacy. The abuse of children by their parents. Totalitarian societies. Racism. The act / art of writing / creation. Literary criticism. And to me... get on with writing stuff, it's later than you think! (There's even a reference to an idea about a writer with a pygmy that went on to become A Very, Very, Very Dark Matter.)
