Adam Arkin directed some of these, Davey Holmes is the showrunner. A direct continuation, with O'Dowd in great form as run-down producer struggling with child access and film problems. Ray Romano's character is not initially given as much to do (undercover for FBI while still in terrified romance with Lidia Porto). Sean Bridgers involved with Sarah Stiles.
Odd episode in which O'Dowd crashes in desert and ends up with crystals woman. Singular episode in which O'Dowd and Bridgers decide whether to kill Romano when they find out he's been snitching - just the three of them. Has it become self-indulgent? Still mightily enjoyable however.
I love the way the FBI can't help themselves but get involved in film-making.
I'm going to miss the distinctive voices of O'Dowd, Romano (his greetings always sound sort of strangled), Porto and Bridgers.
The drumming is brilliant. (And perhaps influenced by Birdman.)
The DVD is surprisingly difficult to acquire, and expensive. Season 3 didn't come out on DVD at all.
