The Concierge / For Love Or Money (1993 Barry Sonnenfeld)

Brisk, funny and warm comedy (with a hint of The Apartment) with delicious little gags (e.g. the Jews chasing a guy down the street with 'Who says our hats aren't the cheapest?') powered by an efficient and likeable performance by Michael J Fox, expertly supported by such folk as Bob Balaban, Dan Hedaya, Michael Tucker and Udo Kier. Also you have to love Isaac Mizrahi as the gay photographer (his 'appreciation' of appetizers, for example - he's not in it enough).

With Gabrielle Anwar, Anthony Higgins, Patrick Breen, Fyvush Finkel.

Written by Mark Rosenthal and Lawrence Konner (the new Roots, Mona Lisa Smile).

Dynamic presentation with lots of capable tracking shots in and out of hotel corridors, camera directed by Oliver Wood.

I thought because I remembered the ending that it would be too familiar but it was a delightful experience.
