Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot (1953 Jacques Tati & scr)

Almost silent set of jokes, some aural, about eccentric on holiday, isn't quite the masterpiece it's cracked up to be, though is amiable and has undeniably funny bits, e.g. at train station. Highlight perhaps is collapsing boat that then looks like giant Jaws. Also liked elderly guest who regales others with war stories.

Tati himself is M. Hulot, who kept reminding me of Graham Chapman, and acts like a heron.

I don't think I've heard the same song, 'Quel temps fait-il a Paris' by A. Romans, repeated so often in one film. Well, maybe Groundhog Day. But it's a close call.
