New Amsterdam - Season 1 (2019 Creator David Schulner)

Based on 'Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital' by Dr. Eric Manheimer, written over the course of his tenure at said hospital. Ryan Eggold plays the doctor who wants to shake things up by asking 'How can I help?' and in true drip feed writing, we learn the back stories of him, Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who, cares too much), Jocko Sims - wants a black wife and family, instead of ER Dr. Janet Montgomery, psychiatrist Tyler Labine and Anupam Kher with estranged son.

Great, gripping two part story involving snowstorm. One of the writers here is exec producer Erika Green Swafford, who sounded familiar but in fact the only things of hers I've seen is the underwhelming How To Get Away with Murder.

Drumming (not Antonio Sanchez) brings good tempo to hospital scenes. I get the feeling that real large hospital medics would laugh a lot at the verisimilitude of a lot of what's going on. Ends on an ambulance crash of (and after) great drama.
