Written by Dennis Palumbo (from his story) and Norman Steinberg. In 1954 an aspiring TV writer is tasked to become caretaker to badly behaving star, who's in NYC to appear on a live broadcast of the writer's show. These two are Mark Linn-Baker and a fabulous Peter O'Toole.
Joseph Bologna is the show's self-assured star, Jessica Harper is the love interest. With Bill Macy (producer), Lainie Kazan (mother), Anne DeSalvo (Arthur, Stardust Memories), Basil Hoffman, Lou Jacobi, Tony di Benedetto (driver).
Many insane situations, much humour.
Didn't even notice the foot! |
Photography: Gerald Hirschfield, editing: Richard Chew. Mia Goldman is an assistant sound editor (she was 'editorial consultant' on In the Bedroom).
There's a lovely recreation of the classic Flynn-Rathbone Robin Hood stairway duel also.
The 1930s built 30 Rockerfeller Plaza is given as the studio location, which inspired the TV show title 30 Rock. It's also featured in Nothing Sacred and Manhattan. (The Apartment is 2 Broadway built at the end of the fifties.)
